Modified Mojito
I love mojitos! Unfortunately, I've had a hard time finding a bar or restaurant in Boulder that can make a really fantastic mojito. I had the opportunity to review the Epica Stainless Steel & Gridded Nylon Cocktail Muddler this week, so I decided to try it out by making my own modified mojitos at home.
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
Here's what I used for my mojito:
Malibu rum
Strawberry sparkling water
Mint leaves
Lime
Heart-shaped ice cubes
My muddler
Step 1 is simply. Place the mint leaves in the bottom of your glass along with a few slices of lime. I cut my lime in half, then the half into quarters. The ridges in this muddler made it very easy to use. I also loved how easy the handle was to grip. You'll want to really get the juices out of the lime. They'll blend together with the mint for a fantastic taste.
Add in your ice, then top with rum and sparkling water. Note that in most mojito recipes, you'll use white rum, club soda, and sugar. This is definitely a lower-calorie alternative. I added 2 ounces of rum and 8 ounces of sparkling water. Because of the flavors, this turned out to be a fruity mojito without being overwhelming. The muddler really got the flavors of the mint and the lime going and the strawberry flavoring in the water tasted great. Next time I'm going to plan to use actual strawberries in this drink for an even fresher taste.

Strawberry Banana + Vodka
Tropica Farmstand's Strawberry Banana juice + vodka is a really sweet, fantastic summery drink. It's not overwhelmingly sugary. In fact, I tried 8 oz of juice with 2 oz of vodka and could barely taste the alcohol. Try this one at your next beach party or just for a little pick-me-up.

Woodchuck Hard Cider
Woodchuck Hard Cider - Pear.
Tastes like pear.
If you like pear, you'll love this hard cider.
If you don't like pear, why did you buy this?
Tequila Rose Recipes
If you aren't a huge liquor fan, Tequila Rose is one of the best drinks to try because it has such a tame flavor compared to many liqueurs. Tequila Rose tastes like strong strawberry milk and is the perfect way to start drinking cocktails. I love this because you can drink it straight (or add whipped cream!) but you can also mix it for some fun shooters. Here are a few of my favorite Tequila Rose shot recipes.
99 Roses:
1/2 oz 99 Bananas + 1/2 oz Tequila Rose
Beauty and the Beast:
1/2 oz Jagermeister + 1/2 oz Tequila Rose
White Tornado
3/4 oz sambuca + 1/4 oz Tequila Rose

Kinky Orange
If you need a bright, summery drink, this is the beverage for you.
As I mentioned in my last post, I'm a huge fan of miniatures. After all, what better way to cheaply try lots of different alcoholic drinks without spending a ton of money? On my last road trip, I cleared out a small liquor store's supply of miniatures (not really - I only took one of each!) and I'm still working my way through them.
Kinky is a liqueur I haven't tried before.
It's described on the bottle as being:
Kinky Liqueur is a naughty infusion of super premium vodka distilled 5 times with succulent mango, blood orange liqueur, and passion fruit.
On a whim, I decided to mix it with my Fanta tonight and see what happened. The result was surprisingly pleasant. I mixed 1 part Kinky with 2 parts orange and it actually tasted very summery and fruity. My husband had a sip and pointed out that this is something that you'd drink on a cruise. If you're planning a summer party, luau, or event, this could be a great way to add a bit of tropical taste to your party.
I will note that I'm not a fan of passion fruit and tend to shy away from passion fruit flavored-anything, but I was actually surprised that this tasted fantastic. If you have a friend or relative who tends to shy away from drinks that taste too "alcohol-y," this is perfect.
Miniatures
What can you do with mini liquor bottles?
- Use them as home decor
- Pack them in your suitcase for late-night drinks at your hotel
- Give them away as party favors
- Tie ribbons on them and use them as centerpieces at parties
- Try different mini bottles to find out which flavors you like or don't like
- Pack them in your bug-out-bag to use in emergency situations
Copperhead Pale Ale
If you've ever been to Kansas, you're probably familiar with Copperhead snakes. In fact, they're the inspiration for the name of this Kansas-brewed beer. On a recent trip back home, my grandfather surprised me with two bottles of Copperhead Pale Ale. If you're looking for a crisp beer with a hint of citrus-y hop, this is the beer for you. Check it out on your next trip through the Sunflower state or if you're away and you need a taste of home.
